How our caregivers show up

Screened for the youngest age group we serve.

  • Screened in person, reference-checked, and CPR-certified before they ever care for a newborn.
  • Experienced with feeds, diapering, naps, settling, and calm home routines for the youngest infants.
  • Briefed on your feeding plan, sleep routine, and emergency contacts before the first booking.
  • Backed by Nicole and April directly, so a real person is reachable if anything changes.

Overnight care

Night-nanny style overnight newborn care.

Overnight bookings run at a flat $450/night. The caregiver handles feeds, changes, and settling through the night following your feeding plan — bottle, pumped milk, or bringing baby to you — so parents can sleep. Mornings end with a short handoff covering feeds, wake windows, and anything worth knowing.

Families who want broader postpartum support — recovery, feeding guidance, newborn education — often pair overnight care with a postpartum doula. We keep a directory of Vancouver doulas for exactly that.

Newborn care FAQs

Newborn care FAQs.

How much does newborn care cost in Vancouver?

Sunhouse newborn care is $35/hour for newborns 0 to 3 months and $30/hour for infants 3 to 6 months, paid directly to the caregiver. After 6 months, standard babysitting rates apply from $22/hour. Overnight newborn care is a flat $450/night. Families not on a membership also pay a $35 +GST agency booking fee per booking.

Do you offer overnight newborn care or night nannies in Vancouver?

Yes. Overnight newborn care is a flat $450/night. The caregiver handles feeds, diaper changes, and settling through the night following your feeding plan, so parents can sleep, and does a morning handoff with notes on how the night went.

What is the difference between a night nanny and a postpartum doula?

A night nanny cares for the baby overnight — feeds, changes, settling — so parents can sleep. A postpartum doula supports the parents more broadly with recovery, feeding guidance, and newborn education. Sunhouse provides screened newborn caregivers and night-nanny style overnight care, and maintains a directory of Vancouver postpartum doulas for families who want that additional support.

Are your newborn caregivers screened and CPR-certified?

Yes. Every caregiver on our screened roster is interviewed in person, reference-checked, criminal-record screened, and CPR-certified. Vulnerable sector checks are completed where required. Caregivers matched to newborn bookings have professional infant-care experience.

Can you care for twins or multiples?

Yes. Additional children are +$5/hour on the hourly rate. For newborn multiples, share ages and routines when you book so we can confirm the right caregiver and whether one caregiver is enough.

How far in advance should I book newborn care?

Book as early as you can — before the due date for planned support. For short-notice needs, same-day requests are sometimes fillable through our last-minute babysitting service when a screened caregiver is available.

Which areas do you serve for newborn care?

Greater Vancouver, including Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, the Tri-Cities, and Tsawwassen. Hotel and Airbnb newborn care is available for visiting families.

Can we have the same caregiver each time?

Yes. Continuity matters most with newborns, and families can request the same caregiver for recurring bookings. We prioritize it whenever schedules line up.

What does the caregiver do during a newborn booking?

Feeds (bottle or supporting your feeding plan), diapering, naps and settling, burping, calm routines, and keeping notes for the handoff. Caregivers follow your instructions rather than imposing their own routine.

Can I book newborn care at a hotel or for a wedding?

Yes. Newborn care works alongside our hotel and Airbnb babysitting for visiting families, and our wedding childcare service covers newborns at venues and hotel suites during events.

Bringing home a newborn, or already in the thick of it?
